This is a stunning antique long bridal lace shawl in white with fabulous decoration throughout its nearly 2.5metres length! The whole shawl is abundant with beautiful and intricate features and is a feast for the eyes! I believe the the whitework is Schiffli machine made on net and much of this has been put together by hand, well over 100 years ago!
- Very elaborate floral insets of flowers and decorative designs at both ends
- Exquisite scalloped frill all the way round the edge enhanced by sprigs of little berries and embroidered leaves throughout the length. The fine edge of the frill is finished off with tiny buttonholes, needlerun bows and diamonds and is very full and deepens around both ends! The whole piece is abundant with beautiful and intricate features and is a feast for the eyes!
- Has required some restoration in the first instance to recover the original colour. There were also several small holes and one significant hole and I have included pictures of the hole repairs for accuracy
- Measures just over 13" wide, although there is a little variation not noticeable to the naked eye due to the depth of the frill and the original maker's application. It measures a huge 91.5" long or 2.32 metres!
This beautiful shawl would make an exquisite 'something old' addition to any bride's ensemble, vintage themed or not. It can certainly be worn again and if stored carefully can be passed down the generations as a wonderful heirloom.
